I Make Stuff
Furniture and objects crafted mostly from recycled wood.
Plastic Model Kits.
Assorted other “stuff”
This is what happens when a craftsman gets unexpectedly locked in due to a global pandemic. I found myself in a unique situation, surrounded by a multitude of weathered and worn-out wooden pieces, with an opportunity to give them a new lease on life. As the world outside remained uncertain, I dedicated myself to transforming these discarded materials into creations that would stand the test of time in their new forever homes.
Obviously, I needed somewhere to do all this stuff. So, I took a look at the car port in front of my bungalow. A small conversion later and the Mancave was born. Furniture was made, gifts were given, tools were bought, then I ran out of room. Less than 3 years of “Mancaveness” and I ran out of room. What was I going to do? A few checks on planning permission, building regs and the like, and Mancave.2 was born, or rather extended. Stay tuned and the whole process will be revealed.
Steve Who?
Blethyn, but no relation to Brenda of “Vera” fame and the co star in “Little Voice”.
I’ve had what you might call a varied career, Graphic Designer, Soldier, Woodworker and a Medic, but after more than my fair share of redundancies, I took a job as a School Site Controller, which, at the time I knew nothing about. I had Carpentry and some basic electrical work and even decorating and plumbing knowledge, but who cared, it was only a temporary thing until I found a proper job. That was around new year in the year 2000. Here I am, 2026, and still doing it. Fair to say, I’ve got the hang of it now.
Thankfully, it’s a key role, because Covid came along and locked everyone away for a bit. Some lost their jobs altogether. So, while I was safe in my key role employment, with very little to do, I built a Mancave. What seemed like five minutes later, I extended it. Well… “I’ve got too many tools” said no man, ever!
